Workplace Hygiene Group Training

We deliver Workplace Hygiene training for groups in our Sydney Training Centre or we can come to you and provide in house training at your location. Group bookings require a minimum of 10 people but if you're just short of that number then please call us as we’ll do our best to meet your needs.

Who should undertake this Qualification?

The target group for this unit is people working for the purposes of food preparation and delivery, this unit has application to people working in hospitality, commercial catering and retail venues where food is stored, prepared, displayed and served. It will apply to any venue that operates a permanent or temporary kitchen or smaller food preparation area. It would apply to tour operators involved in the preparation and service of food at temporary sites.

Workplace Hygiene Course Details

Personal hygiene practices underpin a range of service industry activities. They are particularly important within a food safety environment, but can also be applied to other activities and anywhere where poor hygiene could provide a contamination risk. Poor hygiene practices can risk the health of customers, colleagues and staff.

This unit of competency is in partial completion of SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality from SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality & Events Training Package.

In conjunction with Quality Hospitality International, Training Aid Australia is committed to delivering a high quality online training package for the unit of competency SITX0HS002A - Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures from SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality & Events Training Package by using Quality Hospitality International (QHI) website for participants to complete this training.

Students must be 14 years old on the day of course completion. Students to provide a pen and note pad and wear comfortable clothing. If an invoice is required please contact Training Aid Australia’s head office.

Workplace Hygiene Online Course

There is no face to face delivery, practical training or assessment. All components of the training are online on the QHI website including theory questioning and online videos.

Online training takes approx 4 hours. Once enrolled the student will receive a login, password and web link via email for the online component to be completed prior to the course date. You require a computer, internet connection, speakers (or ear phones) and Flash 7.

All students will need to demonstrate participation and complete the online tasks. These may include participants demonstrating how to access and the ability to follow hygiene procedures and policies, able to identify and report poor hygiene or health issues, take reasonable steps to remove hazards and or a written assessment requiring brief one word and or multiple choice answers. If a competent mark is not scored, the student will have to pay a re-assessment fee of $50.

Workplace Hygiene Pre-Requisites

There are no prerequisites for participants to complete prior to enrolment. The unit is a prerequisite for other units from the SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality & Events Training Package. Students must be 14 years old on the day of course completion.

Workplace Hygiene Course Training

This course is an approved course by the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand. Participants will need to complete the following course content to achieve competency in the unit of competency - Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures.

Legislative Requirements

Food safety is nationally legislated by the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 which provides for the operation of a statutory authority known as Food Standards Australia New Zealand. The Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code) developed by this authority contains an individual standard for food safety practices. A large component of that standard deals with the health and hygiene of food handlers.

This unit of competency complies with the legislative requirements for food safety and hygiene practices as outlined in the Code. The legislative requirement for a business to comply with the national standard for food safety practices, along with training and certification requirements, differs between state and territory governments.

The unit is Nationally Recognised Training which meets NSW Food Authority, NSW Food Act 2003, FSANZ standards and National Child Care and Aged Care Accreditation standards.

Workplace Hygiene Certification

On completion of this course, students will receive a statement of attainment from the nationally recognised unit of competency in: Unit SITX0HS002A - Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures from SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality & Events Training Package.
