Marine Radio Licence Course $300 - Sydney, Brisbane

This course covers both MROCP (Your dual HF & VHF Radio Licence) and VHF (Short Range) training. Both courses are integrated into the one day and depending on which course you wish to complete, that’s the exam which you’ll been given.

Theory Session

• Sydney - The theory training will be conducted in the Mosman Sea Scouts Hall, Harnett Park, Mosman (behind Mosman Rowers Club). There is plenty of parking at Harnett park for students as long as you arrive early. Students must then make their way to the practical session.
• Brisbane - The theory training will be conducted in the Coast Guard classrooms at the Darling Point Sailing Squadron, Trafalgar Street, Manly, Brisbane, Queensland. Please don’t park in the DPSS grounds; parking for students is on the roadside.

Practical Session

Practical sessions will include operations of VHF-DSC (short range) Radio as well as HF DSC (long range) Radio.

Maximum Students

12 Students per course maximum.

Course Material

You must bring -

1. Proof of Identity such as a Passport or photo ID (Drivers Licence).
2. One Passport size photo for inclusion on your MROCP/MROVCP Licence when it is issued by the OMC.
3. Your Yachting Australia Membership Number if you are a YA Member.

We provide the RYA course notes, manual and examination papers. Student to provide a pen, note pad, lunch (or shops nearby), sun protection and warm clothing.

Log Book

Your RYA or AYF TL4 Log Book can be signed off at the training session if you have one. Certificates are posted within 10 days to be inserted into the log book.

Marine Radio Licence Units
	Marine radio licensing requirements		Emergency position indicating beacons (EPIRBS)
	Routine operating procedures		Search and rescue in Australia
	Distress, urgency and safety communications		International requirements regarding the use of marine radios
	Digital select calling		INMARSAT systems
	Public correspondence		Internet access via HF radio (Sailmail)
	Practical use of VHF DSC radios

Assessment

All participants are required to competently complete the theory exam. Exam papers are posted to the Office of Maritime Communications for marking.  When you pass the exam, they will issue your MROCP (Your dual HF & VHF Radio License). If you are attending the VHF (Short Range) course you will sit for the MROVCP exam only.  Both courses are integrated into the one day of training.

Accreditation

This course fully meets the requirements of NSCV Master Class V (TDM ME501A) Marine Radio.
