Who should undertake this Qualification?
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work or wish to work in an Ambulance Authority that provide medical services including emergency and patient transport services between health care facilities.
Individuals completing this course will develop and/or enhance skills and knowledge to help equip them for real life emergency situations by assessing and analysing emergency scenes, treating and prioritising patient care while assisting other emergency service personnel at the scene.
Individuals completing this course may provide leadership and guidance to others at emergency situations where responsibility of their output could be required. This qualification would suit a fulltime Patient Transport officer looking to enhance their skills or an individual looking at entry level paramedic in a private or government ambulance service.

Diploma in Paramedic Ambulance Pre-Requisites
Candidates may enter the qualification through a number of entry points including:
- HLT41007 Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) or other relevant Certificate IV qualification in a health care field;
- Hold a current valid un-restricted Australian Drivers Licence; or
- With extensive vocational experience in a health care facility.
Examples of indicative job roles for candidates seeking entry based upon their vocational experience include:
- Patient Transport Officer
- Nursing Background
- Work related experience in a private Paramedical (Ambulance) service or company
Students wishing to complete this course must complete a full police record check including a prohibited person check (working with children)
Diploma in Paramedic Ambulance Distance Learning
This method of course delivery allows students to complete relevant course subjects by distance learning and face to face instruction. The knowledge based study and units are completed in the students own time (distance learning) and the practical components are delivered in face to face sessions.
Distance learning can present a range of difficulties to learners and the following personal skills should be considered before enrolling into any distance learning course:
- Your ability to study from home without structured classroom sessions
- Your time management skills and commitment to self study/self motivation
- Your access to a computer and internet connection
- Your computer skills and ability to communicate with your course facilitator through an online forum
- Your language, literacy and numeracy skills to read, interpret course information and complete assessments
Students are required to attend 9 days of face to face instruction and assessment with an approved assessor to demonstrate competency.
Individuals are required to attend all days to complete instruction and or assessment tasks to achieve the Diploma in Paramedical Science (Ambulance).
Once enrolled and payment received, participants are provided with (via post) a copy of all learning and assessment resources. Students will also receive an email with a user name/password for access to the online secure zone.
The online training page will provide students with course instructions, an electronic assessment submission form and online support with facilitators.
This course can be completed over the period of 12 months. Approximately 2hrs/week should be allocated to study time.
Students will be provided a list of face to face practical days to ensure they can complete this element of the course.
Diploma in Paramedic Ambulance Course Training
This course has 14 units of competency with assessments that must be completed to achieve the HLT50407 Diploma in Paramedical Training (Ambulance).

Diploma in Paramedic Ambulance Assessments
All participants are required to competently complete all assessments. The written evidence required may be submitted by using our online submission form, by email or post.
We recommend that you use the learning material workbooks we send you to make notes in, and then submit your assessments electronically via the online secure zone.
To complete some of the assessment questions, it’s expected that some internet research will be required, therefore you will require a computer, internet connection and possibly access to a printer.
Units within this course will require you to demonstrate practical skills. This will be achieved by a combination of observations, discussions, written assignments, tests, examinations and practical projects.
Diploma in Paramedic Ambulance Payments
We offer the follow payment options to students:
Option 1 $5,500: Full payment of $5,500 paid up front. We will then send you all the course material for you to commence training.
Option 2 $5,790: Initial deposit of $990 paid up front, this will pay for the first 5 units, we will post this material to you in the post once enrolled into the course. Then $533 instalments to be paid per unit for the remaining 9 units of competency ($533 x 9 units = $4,800 approximate + $990 = $5,790).
Option 3: Apply for Australian Apprenticeship Funding (only available to students who are currently employed. See Student info for further information).
NOTE: When you have finished your training, no certificates are issued until the full amount has been paid.
Re-assessment fee - $80.00 per unit of competency (if not passed as competent)

Diploma in Paramedic Ambulance Certification
Once a competent mark is issued for all 19 units, you will be issued with a HLT50407 Diploma in Paramedical Science (Ambulance). This qualification is an Australian Qualification Framework accredited course and Nationally Recognised Training from the Health Training Package (2007).
Certification will be issued by Industry Pathways, a registered training organisation partnering with Training Aid Australia to deliver this course. Industry Pathways RTO Number is: 32513
