Target Audience:
Any persons who want training in Open Water Aquatic Rescue for work placement such as Surf School Instructor or for personal knowledge and skills.
Price for online training:

Initial Certification - $90 per person
Update Certification - $70 per person
Re-assessment fee - $50 (if not passed as competent)

Receipt for training will be supplied at the course. If an invoice is required please contact Training Aid Australia’s head office.

Initial and Update certificate:
Face to Face: 4 hour course and assesment.
Pre-requisites:
All participants must have a current Senior or Apply First Aid certificate.
All participants must complete a 400m swim in a time of 15min or less before at the beginning of the course be completing any aquatic rescue activities.
It is highly recommended that participants are competent in the surf as all aquatic rescue training is conducted in the ocean.

Course materials we provide:
Manual, information sheets, test papers and resources for practical training.
Student to provide:
Swim suit, wetsuit (recommended), towel, warm clothes, water, pen and note pad.
Course training:
Tube rescue techniques
Unaided rescue techniques
Board rescue techniques
Rip and hazard identification
Lifeguard identification and recognition
Beach safety
Marine bites and sting management
Wave types
Casualty lifts and carries
DRABCD
CPR in aquatic environments
Understand the use of a defibrillator
Assessment:

All participants are required to competently complete the practical and theory assessments.

The theory assessment is a multiple choice theory paper.

The practical assessment includes:
Perform a tube and board rescue (one must be an unconscious casualty).
Demonstrate skills to negotiate surf when performing a rescue.
Perform a run (200m), swim (300m), board paddle (300m) and run (200m).
Demonstrate DRABC.

Outcome:
On completion of this course participants will receive a certificate certificate in Aquatic Rescue valid for one year.
